Oncologists basically deals with the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of cancer and other related diseases. Cancer is ravaging our world. It has no respect for age affecting both the young and old although it is more frequent with the later. The rapidity with which the aging develops this deadly disease is alarming. No one ever prays to die young, so we are all in it together. Mikhail Blagosklonny had a sound medical training and a rich professional experience. He is a product of the prestigious First Pavlov State Medical University of St. Petersburg where he obtained his MD and PhD in Experimental Medicine and Cardiology. His time at New York Medical College and Ordway Research Institute as associate professor and senior scientist respectively adequately got him prepared for his eventual appointment at Roswell Park Cancer Institute as professor of oncology in 2009. He has since then distinguished himself as one of the best hands combating cancer and related diseases worldwide. His research interests cut across underlying mechanisms of aging (biogerontology), anti-aging drugs, cancer and targeted treatments for cancer in ways that shield healthy cell from damaging elements.

Mikhail is not limiting his life-saving works to the fore-walls of hospitals, his several hundreds of articles, book chapters and reviews are also liberating men from the shackles of cancer and other aging-related diseases. He has written on hyper-function hypothesis of aging, cyclotherapy and chemotherapeutic engineering among other anti-cancer approaches. He doubles as the founding editor and editor-in-chief of Cell Cycles. He serves as the co-editor of Aging, Oncoscience and Oncotarget. A number of medical journals benefit from his editorial skills as he plays the role of an associate editor for them; they include Cell Death and Differentiation,The American Journal of Pathology, Canc­er Biology and Therapy and International Journal of Cancer.
